(The Navel of the Earth)
A 22,028 foot rock pyramid where world’s four ancient religions Hindus, Buddhists, Jain's, and Bonpo's has there sacred and strong beliefs. Hindus worship this place kailash as the throne of “Lord Shiva” Buddhists as “Kang Rinpoche” (the precious snow mountain), the Jain's worship this place as the “Mt. Astapada” where the founder of this religion “Lord Rishabhnath” gained his spiritual liberation, for Bonpos is the “Nine storey Swastika Mountain” (the mystical soul of the region). In other word pilgrims of four releigions takes this rock pyramid as the throne of the gods and the Naval of the earth.

Few places in the world have such a splendid variety of natural beauty as the Annapurna region. It is a rare combination of long arrays of snow-capped peaks, crystal clear lakes, turbulent rivers with deep gorges, Tibetan monasteries, hot-springs, and picturesque villages inhabited by simple and friendly ethnic people.

Gosainkunda is one of the Hindu holy places and is considered to be created by Lord Shiva. The Buddhist Tamangs(tribes) that live nearby also revere it as their holy place. Every August, on a full-moon night, the lake is thronged with pilgrims for a big festival. On other days, the lake sits in a tranquil atmosphere welcoming the nature lovers of wilderness.

This magnificent trek combines the beauty of mountain scenery and the pleasure of meeting the Sherpas, whose kindness and hospitality is well renowned. This itinerary, through pine, oak and rhododendron forests, is less frequented than others, and will appeal to mountain lovers who want to get off the beaten track. The 8-day trek passes by the sacred lakes at Gosaikund and the Laurebina pass (4610m). The 7-day trek leads along both sides of the Melamchi Khola river and can also be done in winter. It is advisable to plan an extra day, which can be spent in Melamchi Gaon, a Sherpa village, which is sure to charm you.

Everest Gokyo Ri Trek is the best destination for trekkers. This trek begins at the mountain airstrip at Lukla a one hour flight from Kathmandu. Our destination is the high altitude lakes of Gokyo at over 4200 mtrs. Less frequented than the E.B.C route the trek provides some tremendous high altitude trekking and a visit to the second largest glacier in the World. From the top of Gokyo Ri there are some spectacular mountain views including Everest. We return to Lukla and our flight back to Kathmandu.
