Jaljala


Jaljala, situated at an elevation of 3193 meters in Rolpa District in Mid West Nepal., has its own religious significance.

A temple, known as Jaljala, is in the middle of a meadow where there are religious festivals in full moon days in the months of March, April and June. Thousands of devotees throng the temple with the belief that their wishes are fulfilled.

When people walk at a place named, " Daha" in Jaljala area, the surface shakes making us feel like walking on cotton bed. So, the area is named as Jaljala. A cave named as " Mama-Phupu, mine of lime stone, diverse seasonal flowers and other flora and fauna are other attractions for visitors. The Himalayan views of Mt. Sisne, Dhaulagiri and Annapurna also fascinate the visitors. A Gurilla-Training Center dated before 1997 Peoples' War is equally important historical site heralding the Republic of Nepal.

On the way to Jaljala, a water fall named " Sun Chhara" carrying gold with it joins Lungri River . People, on the bank of Lungri river, filtering sand searching for gold, also attract the visitors. A fifty year old iron mine in Fagam Village Development Committee on the way can also attract visitors.

About four hours walk from Jaljala takes one to Thawang village with the cultural treasures of Kham Magars. The homogenous wooden houses, cultural dances like: Bhumya dance, Dhikure dance of Kham Magar and ruins of the houses destroyed during Peoples' War period can also fascinate the visitors in Thawang village.
