According to Hindu Mythology, Pancha Pandava, on their way to Heaven, had performed some religious rituals in the area of Swargadwari in Pyuthan District. So, the place is called Swargadwari, meaning " The Way to Heaven ".

It is one of the famous tourism destinations of Nepal. It is a hilly district full of tea estates and green deciduous forest all over the hills.
