Champadevi Hiking

It is situated at an elevation of 2285m southwest of Kathmandu. Champdevi is a pilgrimage site having a Buddhist Stupa and a Hindu shrine.

Early in the morning you drive from Kathmandu about an hour to Pharping which is 16 kilometers south of Kathmandu and lies on the way to Dakshinkali Temple.

As you commence to hike the trail heads north along the pine forested ridge about half an hour, then the trail makes round bound towards south . The views of central and western Himalayan ranges are magnificent. After enjoying the splendid views, you come down following the same path to Pharping for about 2 hours and drive back to Kathmandu.

Another option is that you can hike a little further towards Kirtipur which is another ancient city located adjacent to kathmandu. Before the 1st Shah King Prithvi Narayan Shah, unified Nepal this was another tiny city-state. Walk for about 03 hours to the Champadevi Hill. Have a pack lunch there. The magnificent views of Kathmandu Valley, Kirtipur & others are seen from here. After lunch descend down to the Kirtipur in about 02 hours. Kirtipur (6 Km. southwest) is an ancient hill top town. From here drive back to KTM. This hike consists of about 5-6 hours walk.
